Client: Drop in the Bucket
Drop in the Bucket's mission is to build wells and sanitation systems at schools throughout sub-Saharan Africa, enabling youth to fully harness the life-changing power of an education.
Over the last 9 years, Drop in the Bucket has built wells and toilets at hundreds of schools in East Africa, but they also view inspiring kids in the US, to want to help kids in Africa, as an important part of their work. They have asked me to create a series of posters that kids in the United States can print out and hang in their classrooms.
The organization continuously stressed the importance of clean water for education. In order to link clean water and education, I made use of a stroke style of a widely used school instrument, which is the chalk, to convey flowing water. The resulting design is one that not only appeals to kids, but also to adults who go to US schools for parent-teacher association (PTA) meetings. In turn, this further elevates the awareness of what's going on in sub-Saharan Africa.
