Design Process

Design Process

The steps below outline the steps you and I will take when we collaborate on a logo design or brand identity project. From beginning to end, we will be corresponding mostly over the phone or over Skype/Zoom with occasional emails to set deadlines and specific dates for our conversations.

Discovery

It is important that I get to know your business or brand first before doing any design work. Just as a fashion stylist needs to know your height, body type, skin color and age to buy clothes that would perfectly fit your body, an identity designer also needs to know about your venture’s objectives in order to craft something that resonates with your customers and stays true to your brand’s core message.

A 50% down payment is required before we proceed with this phase. We will dive deep into your business’ brand attributes, we will craft personas of your current customers and ideal clients, and we will identify your priorities and goals when it comes to applying the new identity system throughout your brand.

Research

After we’ve identified your brand’s core characteristics and who your customers are, I will start to collate images using Pinterest and create three mood boards that pretty much sums up what your brand will look like in three different ways. These boards will include colors, typography, and sample logo designs. Once you’ve chosen a board, I will be using it as a theme when I start sketching ideas for the logo.

Design & Development

The actual design phase starts here. I will be coming up with three logo design concepts with accompanying mock-ups so that you can see the designs come to life in simulated real-world applications. I will also be assigning typographic styles, more commonly known as fonts, and colors to each direction. These make each concept distinct from each other. Whenever I present design ideas to you, we will be circling back to our early conversations about your goals so that we’ll know that we’re on the right track.

There will be a maximum of three rounds of revisions for each project. The first round will include three design concepts. The next two rounds will involve fine-tuning the design direction that was chosen in the first round. In each round, I will be presenting to you in person or over Skype or Zoom. Additional charges apply for revisions that go beyond the third round.

Delivery

Once you’ve chosen the final design for your brand, you will be billed the remaining balance. When I receive the final payment, I will immediately send you the download link to the design files with a cheat sheet as to how you can use the different file formats in various mediums.

After the delivery of the files, you may call me and we can raise a toast to a job well done!
